The venue hosted Ricardo Martínez's match against a strong challenger that Alfredo González watched as a poor child, where began to make Ricardo his dream and goal after Ricardo said in a victory interview that he wanted the boys of Mexico to not forget what "true machismo" is.

Deathmatch in Mexico Arc[]

The venue was chosen for the WBA featherweight champion Ricardo's 22nd title defence as the main event and Alfredo and Takeshi Sendō's match in the semi-finals that would decide who would face Ricardo in his next match. The press conference was done here as well. When the event began, the semi-finals consisting of Sendō and Alfredo lasted for four rounds, where it ended in Sendō's victory by knockout. The main event for Ricardo's 22nd WBA featherweight title defence match against former WBC champion, Billy McCallum began afterwards. The match ended in Ricardo's victory in the first round by knockout.

Alpha and Omega Arc[]

The venue was chosen for the WBA featherweight champion Ricardo's 23rd title defence against Wally as the main event and Alexander Volg Zangief's second IBF junior lightweight title defence match in the semi-finals. The press conference was done here as well.

Trivia[]

  • When Alfredo González was talking about the match, he mentioned was "The challenger was strong that night...", where he image shown is similar to Eiji Date, where he broke his nose in his fight against Ricardo Martínez and received a scar. However, when Date had a flashback to his match,[2] it was mentioned that the fight took place in Aztec Stadium.
