Summary[]
At Alfredo's corner, Alfredo's coach tells Alfredo to let Ippo think he is gaining ground, and reminds him to not let his bad habits pop up. Alfredo's coach notes that Alfredo has laid plenty of bait and Ippo is eating it all. As soon as the second round begins, Ippo sets off towards Alfredo as he thinks how he can't risk ducking once he gets close, since Alfredo hits when an uppercut when he does that, and notices that Alfredo has only been throwing punches that come straight at him and uppercuts, none from the side, so he plans to use compact horizontal sliding with as little motion as possible. As Ippo is getting closer, he uses head slips to dodge jabs and uppercuts. Once inside his range, Ippo throws a liver blow, but Alfredo steps back to dodge. Ippo is glad that all of his boxing experience is proving useful and is able to capitalise on the things Kamogawa taught him, thinking the boxing he taught him works against the best in the world. Miyata tells Fujii how it is strange that Alfredo doesn't seem impressive, believing that Alfredo is hiding something. Fujii agrees, as he noticed that Alfredo is relying too much on his left, predicting that Ippo will soon memorise it and have no problem dodging the uppercuts and straight punches. He then realises that Alfredo is intentionally letting him memorise it. Kamogawa can feel that Alfredo is about to reach deeper in his arsenal. Miyata thinks he is hiding the punch he hasn't used yet: his right.
