- Title Page Character(s): Masaru Aoki, Tatsuya Kimura, Manabu Itagaki
Summary[]
Itagaki tells Aoki and Kimura that this is the first time he has seen Ippo go down since he joined the Kamogawa gym. At Ippo's corner, Kamogawa tells Ippo that there has to be something he can do better then Alfredo. Kamogawa asks Ippo how his legs are. After Ippo claims they have recovered, Kamogawa concludes that Ippo's stamina and ability to recuperate is superior to Alfredo, advising him to chip away at Alfredo's stamina to make him lose willpower by keeping on moving forward and punching. At Alfredo's corner, Alfredo's coach tells Alfredo that Ippo's punches seemed powerful at the end, predicting that he will have recovered enough to fight back in the next round. He warns Alfredo that he is sure Ippo will show them how he got his world ranking soon, and to expect him to come at him with a plan. Alfredo tells his coach that he will show him what it means when people say "world class." As round four begins, Sendō tells Mari how Ippo's head is all messed up since Mexicans mix up their lefts, since with hooks, they can come in at all angles and switch between big and small swings. As Mari guesses that it will give Alfredo the psychological advantage, Mashiba thinks there are a lot of thoughts going on in Ippo's mind now. Ippo is confused as to what Alfredo will do next and doesn't know what he should do. As the announcer wonders what Alfredo is thinking, Takamura tells him that boxers at the top of the world are bold, but cautious, as they won't get bit by a cornered animal. Takamura points out how Alfredo's eyes look like he is keeping close watch so he can evaluate his opponent's offensive capabilities. Date agrees, and thinks how Alfredo's left is similar to Ricardo's, holding the same significance, and is surprised that Alfredo held back the left hook for so long, doubting that that is all he is holding back, as he could have Ippo focused on the left hook but he may throw a right straight, hook, or uppercut that could end up being a knockout punch. Remembering what he did against Mashiba, Sanada, and Gedo who all had changing lefts, he decides to keep moving forward. Alfredo chooses to be cautious, as he knows that Ippo has beaten a lot of people to get here, so he must have something he is counting on to make up the difference between them. Ippo wishes to find out how effective his experience of his previous fights, his training, and everything he has done with Kamogawa will be.
