Summary[]
Outside the Kōrakuen Hall, Imai sees how everyone is talking about Ippo and Alfredo's match as he thinks everyone forgot about his match. Imai remembers how Ippo tried to end it but punched so hard that it made the swing too wide, so Alfredo countered with a punch that would only hit if it travelled the shortest path possible, He thinks how it shows that there is always someone better, and after seeing Miyata and Sendō walk pass him, it helps confirm his belief. Imai is congratulated by Fujii and Mari on his victory, but Imai claims that while he has the belt, he can't claim to be the best in Japan. Fujii tells Mari how Ippo came back with the Dempsey Roll after his first loss, and wonders what Ippo will bring next, as it could be hope or despair. Date finds Takamura sitting at the ring in the venue. Date comments that with boxing, there are days like this, so it wasn't the Kamogawa gym's night, but the sun will rise again. Takamura knows, however, he thinks what happened should not have happened. Ippo apologises to Kamogawa, who tells him to take some time off, and once the doctors finish checking him, to come to the gym. As Ippo walks home with the company of Aoki, Kimura, and Itagaki, he asks where Takamura is. Aoki and Kimura claim that he would just talk trash so they are better without him. Ippo asks them what hit him at the end and what kind of match was it. Aoki and Kimura answers that he scored a down and he almost had Alfredo. Ippo claims he wants to get stronger and one day go to the ring again.
