Summary[]
Ippo's at Umezawa's place and he still practice drawing a straight lines. Umezawa wonder what those squiggly lines were that he drew before. Ippo thinks it must have been lingering damage from the fight, where his head would hurt and he would feel weak all of a sudden. Umezawa tells Ippo that he was worried Ippo was Punch Drunk since he get hit a lot. Ippo apologises for it. Umezawa talks to Ippo about it more and discusses being punch drunk. Ippo tells Umezawa he did look into it on his own, but mentions there are some things medical science can't quantify, where it can be hard to distinguish the cause. Ippo explains Punch Drunk's past some. Umezama wonder how many times that Ippo's had a concussion, and Ippo doesn't know. Ippo mentions that if you hear a ten count in boxing, you become easier to knock down. Some boxer who were known to be tough, they suddenly start going down much more easily after be counted out once. They continue to discusses the issue, where Ippo mentions it is a mystery where no one can really explain it since there is a clear answer on it. However, Ippo think it is both physical and mental damage that slowly creeps up on a person. Umezawa continues to ask Ippo questions on the subject, where Ippo thinks it is starting to turn into an interview. Umezawa mentions his first serialised manga is going to be about boxing. Ippo notices a title he already did called "Shin Godzilla", where Umezawa mentions he is trying to stay relevant before his big debut. He hopes Ippo will become a World Champion, while he becomes the King of manga, but catches himself since heard that in a pirate manga before. Ippo wishes him luck. Ippo mentions he researched Punch Drunk a lot since he was afraid he really might be broken, but at the same time he realized how much he really loved boxing. Umezawa starts remembering his past where he bullied Ippo, while Ippo continues to be glad Kamogawa let him come back. While motivated, Ippo ends up causing an accident spilling over ink on some finished pages. The next day, Ippo starts training for the first time in a month with Aoki, Itagaki, Kimura, and Wanpo. He easily over takes them while running with weights on.
