Summary[]
Miyata's eighth title defence begins, he throws left jabs at his opponent who begins to brush off his punches. Everyone is cheering, but Ippo is the only one knowing something is off about Miyata. Miyata attacks his opponent until he goes down. As soon as his opponent gets back up, he goes right back down after Miyata hits him. At the Iwata's Chinese Noodles, Aoki, Kimura, and Itagaki has a conversation about how Miyata should challenge the world soon, as his ranking might get snatched up by an underdog. Back at Kōrakuen Hall, Miyata enters his eighth round, visibly exhausted and Ippo in disbelief. The challenger goes into an in-fight and throws many body blows. Miyata then throws a right straight that directly hits his opponent in the face, however, he still stands.
