Summary

At the Kamogawa gym, the gym members welcome Kamogawa and Yagi back, however, Kamogawa immediately yells for Takamura, who is still away from the gym, as Kamogawa had to go to Osaka and do a dogeza as an apology due to Takamura's misbehaviour at the Naniwa Boxing Club. Three days later, Kamogawa is still angry as there is no sign of Takamura while three sparring partners from overseas are waiting for him. When Takamura enters the gym, Kamogawa scolds him and wonders if he stayed in shape for his upcoming match. Takamura answers by quickly defeating the three sparring partners. Later, the day of Itagaki, Kimura, and Takamura's matches arrive at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. Itagaki wins by decision, Kimura's match ends in a draw, the flyweight world title preliminary match ends in a draw, and Takamura, who angers the crowd and Kamogawa with his costume, ends his first WBC super middleweight title defence match with a TKO in the third round. Watching on TV, Mashiba, who has a world title match in two months, and Sendō, who has a world title match in three months, both want a taste of the feeling of a world champion. Later, outside, Miyata approaches Ippo to tell him that he thinks Sendō can't win against Ricardo.

• Takamura's ring entrance costume is based off the GF13-026ND Mermaid Gundam from the Gundam series.
• Morikawa posted on Twitter that Wataru Takamura made Takamura's costume as a promotion for the animated film "The (G)iant Mermaid" (Ｇ(ジャイアント)マーメイド) (Starring Tomiko).[1]
