Summary[]
Ozuma goes in for another hook, but suddenly, he feels pain in his ribs. Ippo ducks and delivers a heavy body blow to the slowed Ozuma and then goes for a 4-hit combo to the face. Before the fourth punch can connect, Ozuma falls and Ippo is declared the winner. All of his acquaintances celebrate as Ozuma's are shocked at the result. Ippo can't remember how he won, so Kamogawa reminds him, and Ippo goes to the other corner, where Ozuma's coach realises that his ribs had been hurt after the first body blow, resulting in the slow hook at the end. Ippo thanked Ozuma for the match, and Ozuma tells him (in English) "Your punch is very strong", and then asks him to become the Rookie King champion. As Ozuma leaves, the crowd begin to cheer, but he is disappointed he couldn't keep the promise he made to his coach's wife, but still enjoyed the fight. Ippo is impressed with the applause for Ozuma, but his own applause takes him completely by surprise. Overcome with emotions, he bows repeatedly to the audience.
