Summary

Aoki is exhausted from the heat as Ippo is unfazed and hitting the sandbag. Aoki then points out an article about a giant typhoon hitting the area near the training camp as Ippo hopes everyone is alright. Kamogawa and Yagi enter the gym and announces Ippo has a sparring request from the Otowa gym. The challenger and his coach arrives, the challenger introduces himself to Ippo as Kyōsuke Imai, Imai explains he wants to be just like Ippo. Kamogawa states in his amateur career he had 35 fights, no losses, 33 RSC (TKO) and winner of the national inter-high tournament for two years. Ippo and Imai begin their spar, Imai rushes Ippo to the ropes with punches. Ippo hits him with a body blow, Imai returns a punch. Aoki and Kamogawa notices how similar Imai is to Ippo. After three rounds the spar ends with no one knocked out. Takamura, Kimura, and Itagaki return, the latter quickly notices Imai. Itagaki smacks Imai's hand away as he was greeting him, Imai then says he will be taking the shortest path to reach Ippo's title. Itagaki then states he won't be reaching him as he himself will stop him before he does.
