Summary[]
Shimabukuro introduces himself to Ippo and asks him if he can show him the ocean. On the way there, Shimabukuro explains to Ippo how he is sparring at a local gym and how he got beaten, however he pounded them all in the end. Ippo notices Shimabukuro's cheeks have sunk in due to weight management, assuming that is why he can't use all his energy. When they arrive at the ocean, Shimabukuro becomes angry at the sight of the dirty ocean and believes that the fight is no longer between men of the sea. Ippo tells Shimabukuro that it is the sea that his mother and father loves, so it is the greatest sea to him. Shimabukuro attempts to leave, until he sees Hiroko. After smelling Hiroko's scent, Shimabukuro believes her to be a woman of the sea, therefore making Ippo a man of the sea. Before leaving, Shimabukuro asks Ippo how long can he go underwater without breathing, claiming that he will take him to the bottom of the sea in their match. Shimabukuro defeats his sparring partners at the Nerima Boxing Club, while Ippo can barely climb stairs.
