Outside the Kōrakuen Hall, Takamura, Aoki, Kimura, and Itagaki comment about how Shimabukuro has no one cheering for him since he lives far away and about the weigh-in situation. In the waiting room, Yagi notices Ippo'a new trunks. Ippo prepares himself by sitting still and breathing, which Kamogawa notes that he is conserving energy for the fight. In Shimabukuro's room, Shimabukuro does mitt training with his coach for a round worth, claiming to need two rounds worth as he want to go full throttle in case Ippo throws anything at the beginning. Shimabukuro tells his coach that if Ippo uses the Dempsey Roll right at the start, he would destroy it. Both boxers are told to come to the ring. When Shimabukuro arrives to the ring , the audience are surprised to see how small he is and the amount of muscle. When Ippo arrives to the ring, Kamogawa notices the amount of pressure Shimabukuro has, comparing him to a giant boulder. The bell sounds, Ippo takes a Peek-a-Boo Style stance. However, Shimabukuro also enters into the Peek-a-Boo Style, appearing even smaller to Ippo, who does not know how to approach, as his fighting style is to step into his opponents chest.
