Summary[]
Kamogawa realises that Ippo is not getting enough oxygen as his face is purple from cyanosis. Kamogawa notes how he had Ippo train his endurance for this situation until round seven or eight. Shimabukuro rushes towards Ippo, who guards his face, only to find out that Shimabukuro is aiming for body blows. Shimabukuro hits Ippo's body multiple times while he is unable to breathe until the fifth round ends. Kimura realises that not being able to breathe and Ippo's body feeling heavy is the "bottom of the sea" that Shimabukuro talked about. Takamura points out that Ippo's previous opponents would target the weak points like Sendō and Volg, who are true predators, while Shimabukuro is a hunter who watches and attacks. Shimabukuro informs his coach that Ippo is now at the bottom of the sea, and will hit rock bottom like a sunken ship in the next round. With a previous experience of cyanosis in his fight against Sanada, Ippo takes deep breaths and gathers strength to use the Dempsey Roll.
