Summary[]
As the JBC lightweight title match between champion Imae and challenger Aoki begins, the audience gets angry due to Aoki only feinting and neither are attacking for a whole minute. Itagaki thinks that Aoki should attack, as being calm is most likely Imae's pace, however, Ippo and Kimura notes how Aoki was trying to set his pace by using feints, but the champion saw through them. Aoki is confused on how to attack, since neither Imae's left or right side is good to attack. Imae is thrilled about Aoki's confusion, as he knew his well-disciplined style would work on his irregular style. Aoki suddenly goes straight for Imae and feints to his left side. Aoki throws a right, however, it gets countered by a left jab. Aoki continues to try and hit Imae, but his every move misses while he gets hit by Imae's precise lefts. After Imae hits Aoki with a right straight, Aoki buckles from the damage as Ippo and Itagaki realise that Imae has set his pace. Aoki notices a cue of when Imae is about to throw his right: when his last left jab is weaker than the others. When Imae throws a weak left jab and then throws a right straight, Aoki ducks and prepares to hit him with a Frog Punch.
