Summary

Takamura is on the warpath because he at the peak weight control for his upcoming defence match. Itagaki saw Isamu and Hiroshi sitting doing nothing while waiting for Aoki to arrive. Kimura tries to get them to do roadwork, but they ignore him. Itagaki intimates to do it them with his past experience as captain of a boxing club, but instead of running, they use bikes instead. After seeing that, Itagaki wonders if they even serious about being a boxer. Team Aoki mentions how they were always picked on and made fun of, they lived with it every day. Kimura wonders why they didn't look up to Takamura instead, since he was the embodiment of strength. But they thought Takamura's scent was all wrong, since he reeked of talent. Itagaki wonders why not Ippo, since he used to be picked on too. However they thought Ippo reeked of hard work. Kimura complains if they don't like talent or hard work, why they were following Aoki. They mention that Aoki invented attacks and superior lies, tending to ignore physical strength, and he won with his mind. They want to win without trying. After Aoki arrives, they complain to him about the training. Aoki is surprised to learn that Ippo went to Osaka for Sendō's comeback fight. They think Sendō should win easily since he was fighting no-name cannon-fodder. In the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium, Sendō defeats his opponent by knockout in just one minute and thirty-three seconds into the first round. Ippo meets Sendō in his changing room after the match, where he overhears Sendō arguing with Ryūhei Sawamura, who was his sparring partner and ranked third in the nation. When Ippo tries to shake Sawamura's hand, he declined since he doesn't get too close to people who will give him their belts. As he was leaving, he tells Ippo to refrain from using the Dempsey Roll when they fight, since clumsy techniques will always fall apart. Ippo is surprised by it. Sendō added that Sawamura could back it up, since he beaten him in a lot of spars. Sendō mentions that his time was always been his weak point, and Sawamura good at using it. Sendō thought that timing was the key part in the destruction of the Dempsey Roll since it was weak to counters. Sendō warned Ippo to be wary of Sawamura since he was one in a million counter puncher, and the Dempsey Roll's natural enemy. Volg, standing in front of his his mother's grave, mentions that since she died, a hole had open in his heart. He apologises to her, since he planned to leave soon since he will return to the ring.
