Summary

On the fishing boat, Ippo thinks about how he was wanting to evolve the Dempsey Roll, however, he still has no idea how, as all he knows is that it is weak to counters and the timing is easy to grasp. At the Kamogawa gym, Ippo struggles with the mitt practise with Kamogawa, as he keeps wondering about the good and bad points of the Dempsey Roll. Kamogawa notices this and stops the practise session and tells him to hit the sandbag. Kamogawa soon stops Ippo again to have him run with a tire hooked to a rope that is wrapped around him, advising him that the twisting motion of the Dempsey Roll puts great strain on the legs and waist, and, when he finds the key to evolving the technique, he will need the lower body strength to be able to pull it off. Later, Aoki, Kimura, and Itagaki watches Ippo run while dragging the tire. The three discuss how Ippo is at a disadvantage as he has no one to spar with even if he has a plan, and Sawamura seems like he has the guts to pull off the counter. Itagaki thinks that there is a fear that is specific to the Dempsey Roll, and if he can figure out what causes the fear, he may find out a way to work past the anxiety and help Ippo. After a night of being unable to figure it out, Itagaki goes to the Kamogawa gym and bumps into Hiroshi, making the latter drop his books. Noticing that the books are about boxing techniques, Itagaki grabs them. Reading the books, Itagaki is impressed how Aoki's techniques are written in detail, however, he gets irritated when the Dempsey Roll has no information. When Hiroshi puts out his hand to have Itagaki give the books back, Itagaki was startled as his hand came from his blind spot. Figuring something out, Itagaki throws the books back and meets Aoki and Kimura at the Coffee Dengeki. Itagaki reveals that he has figured out the cause of the pressure that the Dempsey Roll causes, with the key being the blind spot. Elsewhere, Ippo runs while dragging three tires and becomes shocked when he passes by Volg, who has been looking for him.
