Summary

Ippo motions the Dempsey Roll in front of Volg. Volg begins blocking the his of the Dempsey Roll, noticing how Ippo is going from blind spot to blind spot. Unable to see where Ippo will punch from next, Volg jumps back and is able to see Ippo's full motion of his right hook. Volg launches a right hook as Ippo does the same, however, Volg's reaches first, completing the Dempsey Break. The impact makes Ippo go down unconscious, ending the spar. After Volg was thanked and as given good luck by the Kamogawa gym members and Kamogawa himself, Volg leaves the gym. At the Makunouchi Fishing Boat, Volg prepares to leave Japan to go to America. Hiroko gives Volg money and a good luck charm. Volg asks her to tell him good luck in Russian, thanking her as her son in Russian. Volg leaves with Umezawa to the Narita Terminal 1. On the way there, Volg tells Umezawa that he will move up to junior lightweight. Volg believes that he doesn't have to say goodbye to Ippo this time, because in the far future he thinks that he will see Ippo again as long as he keeps boxing. When they get to the airport, Volg leaves on the plane to America, and Ippo watches he plane in the sky on the gym's rooftop.

Trivia

• The advertisement behind Volg at the airport in page 18, advertises a real cigarette brand in Japan called "Mild Seven" before it was changed to "Mevius" in 2013. The cigarette brand name appears in many other manga series as well.
