Summary

While riding his motorcycle, Sawamura is stopped by a group of thugs after they threw a pipe at one of his wheels. The group intends to injure Sawamura before his next match, drawing knives. Near the area, Kawabe notices Sawamura's motorcycle parked near an alley. Kawabe investigates and is shocked to see Sawamura with blood on him next to the knocked out group who threatened him. Sawamura licks the blood off his hand and thirsts for more, grabbing one of the knives on the ground to get more blood, however, Kawabe steps in and stops Sawamura. Sawamura remembers that was going to see Kawabe, giving him a ticket for him to see his title match against Ippo and thanking him for stopping him from injuring the group more. As Sawamura left, Kawabe thinks that he was wrong to introduce Sawamura to boxing, believing it to just be making his madness grow further. Later, Ippo is sitting near the Tokyo Bay when Umezawa approaches him, wanting to know why he looks down. Ippo tells him how Sawamura, despite being so strong, unforgivably ignores the rules of boxing and cheats, adding that he doesn't want to see Sawamura achieve in the boxing world if he keeps ignoring the rules. Umezawa requests to knock Sawamura out, which Ippo agrees to, however, Umezawa noticed that Ippo doesn't seem riled up and ready to go, but looked as if he decided on something. Walking away, Ippo decides that he will keep using the Dempsey Roll until he wins instead of the limit of two times that Yamaguchi wanted him to do, even if it means he won't make it to the promised place with Miyata. The next day, Kumi and Mashiba arrive to the Kōrakuen Hall where the weigh-in between Ippo and Sawamura is taking place. Kumi plans to give Ippo lunch and asks Mashiba why he had to come. Mashiba explains that he wanted to see how pathetic Ippo looks before facing Sawamura, criticising how Ippo has to talk to a girl before a match.
