Summary[]
The referee warns Sawamura that if he tries to hit Ippo while he is down again, he will be disqualified. Sawamura, however, visibly ignores him by covering his ears. After Ippo says that it is okay, the referee continues the match. Ippo angrily throws left and right hooks at Sawamura's guard at the ropes. The impact from the hits cause Sawamura to go the corner, where Ippo breaks his guard with a strong right. Ippo throws a left towards Sawamura's face, but Sawamura sends out a counter with perfect timing. Ippo barely dodges the counter, and proceeds to dodge another counter before landing a liver blow. Sawamura tries to escape the corner and throw a left hook, but Ippo prevents him from escaping while blocking the left hook. Sawamura clinches onto Ippo in an attempt to escape. Ippo breaks the clinch with a close ranged punch. Sawamura throws lefts to keep Ippo away, however, they all get dodged. Ippo sends out a right towards Sawamura's face, but it gets dodged and hits the corner post as the first round ends. Sawamura believes that he has Ippo's rhythm down, while Ippo notes to himself that he is just getting started.
