Summary

At the corner, Kamogawa praises Ippo's performance and tells him to be cautious of Sawamura's counters. Karil asks for Sawamura to not cheat again and suggests for him to wait for his chance. Sawamura comments that Ippo can have all the points he wants, planning to make the audience silent and beat him. When round two begins, Sawamura acts as if he wants to greet Ippo by sending his hand out to bump gloves, however, when Ippo tries to bump gloves with him, he is attacked with a left jab, which he dodges. Date asks Sendō if Sawamura is all he says he is. Sendō thinks that Sawamura isn't acting like himself and either he is thinking of something, or Ippo has become strong. Ippo throws punches at Sawamura's guard, angered at Sawamura as he constantly goes outside the lines of what is acceptable in boxing. Ippo pushes Sawamura back to the ropes and hits him with a liver blow. Ippo follows up with a left hook, but stops and ducks to dodge Sawamura's incoming counter. After both miss their punches, they hit each other in a dual exchange, with Sawamura being worse off. Ippo prepares to attack, but Sawamura recovers in time to prepare a counter. Sawamura miscalculates the timing of Ippo's rhythm as Ippo increased his step-in speed, letting him connect his right to Sawamura's face, causing a down as one of Sawamura's knees hit the canvas.
