The Spice of Patience is Round 491 of Jōji Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo manga series.
Details[]
- Title Page Character(s): Ichirō Miyata, Ippo Makunouchi, Ryūhei Sawamura, Shimakawa
Summary[]
Ippo chases Sawamura along the ropes while dodging Bullets by weaving back and forth. Miyata, thinking that it could be said that Sawamura is the best counter puncher in Japan, he predicts that Sawamura won't proceed in a simple textbook style, however, Sendō doesn't think it is possible, since when Ippo gets into his rhythm, one can't touch him. Ippo has Sawamura guarding at the ropes while hitting him with left and right hooks using momentum from his back and forth weaving. Sendō observes that Ippo's speed is increasing, while Date realises that Ippo's weaving motion is a simple, repeated motion. Miyata thinks the "destruction of Makunouchi" will be the result of that rhythmic rotation. Ippo manages to break Sawamura's guard, and Sawamura proceeds to throw Bullets that Ippo dodges in a rhythmic path of the infinity symbol as he begins his Dempsey Roll. Sawamura puts back up a tight guard as Ippo continuously attacks it with the left and right hooks of his Dempsey Roll. Sawamura jumps back while Ippo is using the Dempsey Roll, creating a distance between them. Sawamura prepares to attack, relishing on the situation as this is what he has been waiting for.
