Summary[]
As a very vengeful Takamura unleashes a devastating combination on Yajima, the latter attempts the same counter he did at the beginning of the match. However, Takamura easily dodges this (surprising all audience) and continues his combinations overwhelming his opponent, who at one point begins to fall, but is stopped and sent back up by an uppercut. When Yajima finally falls, the referee does not even count, and instead declares Takamura the new champion. Later that night the entire crew celebrates by drinking with the waitresses at Sugar Ray. Fujii and his partner, arrive to see that except for Ippo and Takamura, everyone else (including Kamogawa, is drunk in celebration. Later that night, Ippo and Takamura walk home and reflect on their goals. Takamura still has lingering damage and nearly falls, helping Ippo realise how difficult it is to reach the top. Takamura who is grateful to Ippo (even though he doesn't say it out loud) for cheering when he needed the most, encourages him to win the the tournament.
