Summary

Ippo gets hit with a right body blow and both boxers do a right-on-right dual exchange, however, Ippo is slower to recover and has to block Imai's punches. Ippo feels as if Imai has more brute strength than Shimabukuro. Ippo gets hit with a left hook and almost falls before recovering and trying to hit Imai again. The two rounds end, and Ippo is left exhausted while Imai is calm. Ippo wants to apologise to Itagaki for being beaten one sidedly, but Itagaki left. Itagaki followed Miyata out of the gym and asks what he thought of the spar. Miyata deems it a horrible fight where Ippo was defeated. Itagaki believes that Ippo has not fully recovered from his last match, and if he was in his best condition, it would not have happened. Miyata asks if Itagaki is trying to defend Ippo or just doesn't want to admit his rival is strong. Miyata claims that he should be happy, since the stronger the opponent, the more fun he will have, adding that he would be very excited. Miyata takes off with Takamura and his father in the car. Itagaki overhears the Otowa coach boasting to Imai that when he becomes Rookie King, he should take on Ippo since he has nothing to fear, but Imai doubts the result would be the same in a real match. Itagaki knows Imai is not even worried about him, but he will not let him become Rookie King so easily.
