Summary

While doing roadwork with Takamura, Miyata is exhausted and claims that Takamura runs a lot, asking him if he is starting his weight control now. Takamura claims that this is why Miyata's counters are so weak, and reveals that they will be sparring when they get back inside. When they get back to the building at the training camp, Miyata and Takamura begin sparring without headgear on, as the former believes that middleweights can't keep up with a featherweight's speed. When the spar begins, Miyata uses his speed to go around Takamura while throwing punches at his guard. Miyata is shocked when Takamura manages to corner him without moving much at all. Miyata tries to get out of the corner with a counter, but Takamura knocked it away with his shoulder and then hit him with a body blow. After the spar ended, Miyata's father tells Miyata how Takamura cornered him while moving the shortest distance possible making him seem faster than he is. Later that night, Miyata encounters Takamura fishing again and failing to catch any fish. Miyata apologises for hitting Takamura the other day, which Takamura claims it only felt like a mosquito bite. Miyata asks Takamura if his counter is weak. Takamura answers that it is, because when he punches, his balance is off, cutting the power. Takamura orders Miyata to punch his hand so that he can show him how to recover his wasted energy.
