Details[]
- Title Page Character(s): Ippo Makunouchi, Kazuki Sanada
Summary[]
Sanada guesses that Ippo didn't come to ask for advice about boxing, even though he was looking forward to talking about the sport. Sanada tells Ippo how he has become stronger since he last fought him and that he doesn't fall anymore. Sanada mentions to him that him not falling down not only scares his opponent, but also the others watching, due to seeing him take damage that should knock him out but he still stands, which can lead to accumulated damage to his body. Sanada asks if he came to see him because of any symptoms due to accumulated damage like being unable to throw a straight punch or being incapable of dodging simple punches. Ippo declines, and claims that it is for someone else he can't say, and that it is about the eye. When they go inside the building, Sanada began to explain retinal detachment, which, when the retina detaches, water gets in the wound until the retina is completely separated from the eye. He explained that the possibility of their vision being affected is high, but how much depends on the location of the opening, where the top opening would be faster and have more symptoms, and the lower would be slower with less symptoms. With Ippo now knowing how dangerous retinal detachment was, Sanada stressed that he must not allow an athlete to fight with the condition, as it can lead to blindness, and if left untreated, the cells around the gash will die and the eye would decay, making the person have to get a fake glass eye. Sanada reveals how retinal detachment is curable, with the sooner the condition is healed, the boxer can return with limitation, advising Ippo to take full responsibility to send he goes through surgery. Sanada is sure the person Ippo is talking about is keeping it a secret from others and Ippo is the only one who noticed, so he should ask the person to see if it is a real concern, and if it is, he should be sent to a doctor. Sanada wonders if the person Ippo is talking about is important to him since he came all this way to see him.
