Summary[]
After making it to the semi finals of the tournament, Ippo studies Hayami's recent match with Kamogawa. Thinking that as an in-fighter, he would have the advantage, Ippo is proven wrong as Hayami knocks out his opponent after toying with him for three rounds. Realising that in-fighting will not be enough, they begin training with a combination of extensive roadwork and dodging exercises in order to exhaust Hayami by making him miss the shots of his "Shotgun". Later that night, Ippo, along with Kimura and Takamura are eating at the Iwata's Chinese Noodles where Aoki works. They begin talking about Hayami and Aoki's impending match, leading to the conclusion that anyone who fights before Aoki, should not be feared.

- In the official K Manga English translation of the chapter, it erroneously has Genji Kamogawa claim that Ryūichi Hayami's match against Ōno was his fourth match, however, it is his third.
