Summary

As Takamura walks to his corner, he notices Eagle staring at him, which he mentions to Kamogawa that he thinks Eagle is being creepy. Kamogawa orders him to not talk and for him to catch his breath, but he also noticed Eagle staring at him ever since the middle of the first round. Takamura plans to up his pace in the next round as he feels his body is lighter despite going up a weight class. Kamogawa warns that Eagle may be able to go faster as well. Takamura tells Kamogawa to not worry, as he will show the world the power of Takamura back at his original weight class. In Eagle's corner, he only closes his eyes and listens to his coach's advice to use what he learned about Takamura's speed and rhythm in the first round for the next round. When the second round begins, Takamura attacks Eagle's tight guard as the audience cheers for the former. Kamogawa mentions to Yagi that Takamura's body and punches are the greatest they have ever been and he is without a doubt an ultimate beast, but Eagle hasn't budged, as he continues to block at the centre of the ring. Miyata notes to Ippo that it may look the same as the first round, but the difference is, is that Eagle isn't blocking with both hands and parrying anymore, he is staying safe with a shoulder block and it is becoming easier for him to dodge. Kamogawa is reminded of a quote from the former champion Alexis Argüello to use round one to observe the opponent, use round two to understand their speed and timing, and even after losing those two rounds, there's still plenty of time to win the match. He also remembers Argüello heavily using shoulder blocks. Yagi wonders if Eagle is really calmly waiting under all those punches he is blocking. Kamogawa thinks that since Eagle is able to avoid all those punches, it is proof that he is picking up Takamura's rhythm. Miyata tells Ippo that Eagle isn't fighting back to concentrate on remembering Takamura's style and everything about his fighting abilities. Takamura throws a right, and Eagle dodges to the side.
