Summary

As blood gets in Eagle's right eye, he thinks of it as a red curtain that blocks half of his field of vision, but it is not so bad that he can't continue. With Takamura having the same type of wound, Eagle thinks that things are even now, planning to continue fighting him head on. Takamura gets in Eagle's blind spot and lands left jabs, hitting the wound. Eagle focuses on guarding his cut, making his attacks slower as Takamura is able to dodge and get back in Eagle's blind spot. After another strong punch to Eagle's face, Eagle notices more blood is flowing into his eye, wondering if the cut got split even further. Takamura doesn't think they're even just because they have the same cuts, as he wants to the make Eagle's cut twice as deep. Takamura goes back into Eagle's blind spot and lands multiple lefts that are aimed at Eagle's cut, causing enough blood to spray that it turns Eagle's blonde hair red, while Takamura shows a demonic expression. The audience jeers at Takamura's act of going for Eagle's cut. Ippo hears the audience's jeers, commenting that it is because Takamura is showing the exact opposite of the attitude that Eagle displayed. Date notes that aiming at a weak spot usually results in cheers, but the audience has the wrong idea on why Eagle wasn't aiming for the cut, as aiming for the weak spot is part of the basics. Miyata believes Takamura is focused on accomplishing something. Eagle, thinking that him guarding still makes the cut open more due to the impact of Takamura's punches hitting his gloves, puts his guard away from his face and steps forward. Takamura was waiting for Eagle to stop protecting his face as he lands a left hook to Eagle's temple, causing the champion to stumble before regaining his footing. Takamura lands a right on Eagle's block, sending him to a corner. Ippo understands now that Takamura is focused on accomplishing his job, and it is the only thing he came here for. Eagle lands a left to Takamura's face. Takamura is unfazed, and thinks how he didn't come here to fight David Eagle, he is only here for the belt. Takamura lands a right hook on Eagle's face. Eagle begins to fall.
