Summary

Itagaki can't get close as he dodges Makino's Flicker Jabs. Kimura notices that Itagaki is already sweating despite the match has only just began, but Aoki points out that it isn't from exhaustion, it is cold sweat from being nervous. Ippo notes that Flicker Jabs are fast and hard to read, so that cause incredible pressure. Fujii believes that Makino has mastered the Hitman Style, and Mashiba adds that he knows that he isn't a copycat now, as the speed and edge to his punches are good, so he assumes that he has practised until he found a style that suited him. Makino remembers the last time he fought Itagaki he couldn't keep up with his speed and didn't think he could touch him, but now his lefts won't he let Itagaki get close, so he plans to be in control of the match this time. Itagaki dodges and blocks more Flicker Jabs, but he backs himself away to the ropes while he was dodging. Itagaki tries to get away from the ropes by using left jabs, but Makino uses head slips to dodge them. Mari tells Atsushi how the lefts Makino is dodging overwhelmed him in his previous match against Itagaki, and that it is rare to see a boxer who can make this much progress in a short time span. Makino launches back some more Flicker Jabs, hitting Itagaki's guard and putting his back against the ropes once more. As Itagaki's guard gets pummelled by Flicker Jabs, the audience yells at him to get away, however, Ippo realises that he is now parrying the Flicker Jabs. Mashiba tells Fujii how the reach and speed of Makino's Flicker Jabs are different from his, so Itagaki had trouble at first, but now it looks like he has got it. Kimura is amazed by Itagaki single-handedly knocking away the Flicker Jabs. Mashiba mentions to Fujii that what Itagaki is doing now is the same thing he got him with, noting that Itagaki's intuition and depth perception is something he had to be born with. He adds that when Itagaki is completely focused, there isn't a single four-rounder that can touch him. Fujii is shocked, deeming Itagaki a natural.
