Summary[]
Itagaki continues knocking away Makino's Flicker Jabs. Kimura thinks how there are very few boxers who possess such sharp detection skill and reaction speed, believing that he was born with something different from the rest of the Kamogawa gym boxers. Makino, irritated that Itagaki is acting so calm and is getting used to his Flicker Jabs, plans to raise his tempo, however, Itagaki knocks Makino's left arm away at close range and hits him with a left hook to the face, causing his legs to wobble. Itagaki gets behind Makino, who turns around to attack, but Itagaki knocks away his punches. Ippo notices that Itagaki is being careful, as he must remember that he lost the last time he fought Makino. Kimura agrees, as Itagaki was faster and he threw so many punches that they were like a hedgehog's needle when they were sparring. After hitting Makino in the face with some jabs, Itagaki unleashes a barrage of fast punches that Kimura describes as the "Hedgehog," hitting Makino multiple times. Makino tries to clinch, but Itagaki uses footwork to move away. Makino is frustrated, believing that this is the difference between what weeds and the elites are born with, calling it unfair.
