Summary[]
Itagaki uses footwork to dodge Makino's wild swings. Yagi is impressed by Itagaki's concentration, believing he can win, and Kamogawa thinks it would be futile to try to land a hit on Itagaki using only guts, but he has seen the opposite of guts many times before. Shinoda knows that Itagaki is susceptible to damage, so they can't let their guard down until the match ends. After Itagaki lands a barrage of blows on Makino, the latter desperately tries to land a blow, wanting to give Atsushi courage as he is having a medical operation soon. Makino's coach wonders what is wrong with Makino, as he is not using his usual style, and is instead throwing wide punches, wondering if he lost his weed mentality of winning no matter what, even if it meant fouling. He then notices Atsushi is in the audience and understands it is because he is there. After a hit to the face, Makino's back is against the ropes and he puts up his guard while thinking that there is too big of a difference between him and Itagaki. After a punch starts sending him down, Makino recovers with a desperate uppercut that Itagaki dodges. As Makino stumbles, the audience cheers for Itagaki to beat him. Itagaki lands a left to Makino's face.
