Summary[]
As Mashiba throws a powerful punch, Miyata attempts his counter with perfect timing. However, and to the shock of everyone, Miyata is too "worn out" and Mashiba successfully connects, sending Miyata down and winning the fight, thus earning a fight against Ippo in the finals. Miyata is removed with a stretcher as he fails to regain consciousness in the ring. Fujii and Takamura discuss the future of East Japan Rookie King Tournament, as they wait for Ippo who is on his way to Miyata's room. Miyata's father, informs the reporters of Miyata's condition and tells them to go away. When he notices Ippo, he tells him Miyata asks for his forgiveness. Ippo, remembering moments with Miyata, and angered by Mashiba's actions, punches a vending machine and walks away.
