Summary[]
In Miyata's waiting room at the Kōrakuen Hall, his father asks about his fists, which Miyata states that they are completely fine, and all that is left is to cut his opponent down. The announcer reveals to the audience that the match is a ten round non-title match. Ippo and Itagaki are in the audience seats to watch. Itagaki thinks that Ippo should be angry that he broke their promise, but Ippo thinks that Miyata has his reasons. Itagaki notes that Miyata is fighting the Filipino second ranker, thinking that it is going to be easy for Miyata. Ippo points out that Miyata is coming back from a break and is still world ranked, adding that fighters who have the world ranking as their motivation are incredible. Miyata enters the ring and feels as if it is Ippo who is waiting at the other corner, but knows that it isn't true. Miyata knows that this is what he has decided, planning to fulfil his destiny without hesitation.
