Summary[]

Having countered Sendō's Smash, Miyata thinks that he doesn't need a full powered uppercut like his father wanted him to have, as he believes that angle they come from makes it easy to counter, planning to continue on using his own style of straight-on battles using left, rights, and counters to prove that his father's style can work at the world level. Seeing that Miyata did not follow up after the counter, Sendō becomes angry that Miyata isn't treating the spar like a real fight and begins attacking again. Miyata remembers Sendō wanting to study jabs, so he plans to show him. Sendō gets hit with lefts until the first round ends. At Miyata's corner, Miyata's father asks him why he didn't use footwork. Miyata answers that he was thinking about how he would fight Randy in the eleventh round, where he might be too tired to use his footwork. In the second round, Sendō walks towards Miyata with his hands up and exposing his entire body. Sendō uses head slips to dodge Miyata's lefts and throws punches of his own from the same position, appearing motionless at Miyata's guard. Miyata thinks that with Sendō having destructive power with such compact punches, he is the same type of boxer as Ippo. After feinting Miyata into throwing a counter, Sendō dodges and hits him with a body blow. Miyata's father is impressed with Sendō, as while Miyata is thinking of the later rounds, Sendō is thinking of the early rounds, as Sendō knew Miyata's lefts would be dangerous, so he spent the first three minutes memorising them. Sendō forces Miyata into a corner and throws a right at his guard.
