Summary[]

Ippo and Itagaki notices that Randy has taken the Southpaw stance. Sendō thinks that it doesn't matter if it is his left or right side, as Miyata can just slug him one, however, Sawamura claims that it is easier said than done for a counter puncher. Not wanting to give time for Randy to recover, Miyata dashes towards Randy as the audience cheers for him. Miyata begins successfully using the anti-Southpaw strategy of attacking while circling clockwise against Randy, hitting his block, but also directly hitting him a few times. The Kawahara coach and Kida note that using right straights while dodging to the left against Southpaws is a generally accepted rule of thumb. They add that since a Southpaw has their right hand out in front, the overall effectiveness of left jabs is greatly reduced, but the angle that one would throw right straights at is easier to connect with. They also add that by using a leftward movement to always stay off on their opponent's side, it lets them avoid strong lefts and keeps any right hooks finding the mark as well. They believe that the results of Miyata's hard work in the training is showing. As Miyata continues using the anti-Southpaw strategy, Miyata is surprised when Randy's attacks went from grazing him to landing on his guard, as he believes that he should be going into his blind spot since he is on the outside of his front leg. After another punch grazes Miyata's cheek, he feels as if there is some kind of static getting into his rhythm. Miyata suddenly gets hit by Randy in the face.
