The Source of the Static is Round 830 of Jōji Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo manga series.
Details[]
- Title Page Character(s): Ichirō Miyata, Randy Boy Junior
Summary[]
After being hit, Miyata is confused on why it happened. Miyata then realises that Randy is switching between the orthodox and Southpaw stance without him knowing, causing the static that makes it hard for him to keep his rhythm. Sawamura tells Ippo, Itagaki, and Sendō that Miyata had been smoothly moving in tune with the rhythm because he was able to predict what kind of moves Randy could make and how fast he'd be able to come after him, but because something unexpected happened, his rhythm got distorted, and now the cause of it is becoming clear. As Miyata pauses, Sawamura notes that since he doesn't know if Randy is going to use his left or right, and the timing and range is different for both, he can't tell what is coming next so he can't use counters. With Miyata comparing Randy's ability to switch between the stances as fighting against multiple boxers, he plans to throw more punches and move at full speed.
