Summary

At Miyata's corner, Miyata's father asks him where he is having trouble at, however, Miyata simply claims that there is nothing to worry about. Miyata's father knows that Miyata's seriously hurting due to his expression. He realises that no one else realises Miyata's pain, but wonders if Randy realises it. At Randy's corner, Mr. Sakaguchi wonders if Miyata's side is damaged. When Randy claims that it might already be broken, he tells Randy that it should give him confidence to win. As the fifth round begins, Miyata throws left jabs towards Randy, who dodges while advancing closer to Miyata. When Randy gets close a prepares a body blow Miyata attempts to use a right counter, however, the pain in his ribs causes his throw to be delayed, letting Randy duck under the punch and hit Miyata with a body blow. Miyata tries to hide the pain in his expression and then uses footwork to create a distance between them. Kamogawa notes that the damage to Miyata's ribs didn't come from that punch, thinking that Miyata's ribs were already hurting. Takamura points out that when swinging a right, the muscles in his body are also used, causing severe pain if the ribs are hurting, and affects the power and speed of the punch as well. Randy grins, as he is confident that Miyata's right is now useless, but notices how Miyata isn't trying to let others see that he is trying to protect his body. As Randy continues to aim for Miyata's body, and Miyata tries to counter his attempts, Miyata gets hit by multiple body blows, further increasing the pain to his broken ribs.
