Summary[]
With twenty seconds left in the first round, Itagaki is distracted, almost getting hit when he looks away from Kaonar to look at Karasawa and Saeki. The first round ends with Itagaki landing a jab on Kaonar. At Kaonar's corner, Kaonar tells his second that Itagaki's speed and technique are leagues above his, however, his boxing is too straightforward, so he plans on dragging it into an exchange next round. In Itagaki's corner, Itagaki ignores Shinoda's scolding, as he has finally become focused. In the second round, Itagaki enters the Detroit Style. Itagaki uses the Bullet Time and dodges Kaonar's attacks with his increased speed and downs him with an uppercut. When Kaonar gets up and comes to Itagaki with a right, wanting a dual exchange, Itagaki strikes him with a Jolt Counter, after only seeing the technique from when Miyata used it against Randy. Kaonar goes down from the counter and is unable to continue, resulting in Itagaki's victory. Ippo is shocked by Itagaki's use of Miyata's Jolt Counter since Miyata had to have worked hard to grasp it. Itagaki doesn't plan on using the counter again, as he risks are too high. Itagaki looks at Karasawa and Saeki while motioning the "ace of A's". Karasawa and Saeki believe that Itagaki is interesting.
