Summary[]
After Ippo's consecutive body blows, Mashiba exposes his jaw, giving Ippo the opportunity to attack, when the latter attacks however, the former grabs him and holds him in a clinch, immediately stopping the action. The referee orders them to separate, but when Mashiba fails to do so, Ippo continues to deliver more body blows, forcing Mashiba to let go. Mashiba throws a hook, but Ippo dodges under and connects a devastating hook to Mashiba's jaw, and follows with a straight that sends him to the ground. As Ippo notes to himself that he is out of energy, stamina and in pain from his right hand's injury, Mashiba begins to get up with the referee counting. Witnessing his determination, Ippo gets ready to keep fighting, but the referee counts to ten before Mashiba can get up, declaring Ippo the winner.
