Summary[]
Itagaki is confused on how his counter attempt failed, as he believes that his timing was correct. After Itagaki has trouble getting up, Karasawa dashes towards Itagaki. Itagaki dodges his punches by only moving the top half of his body since his legs are still hurt. As Itagaki prepares to counter an incoming left jab, he gets hit again. Itagaki stays standing, but is confused on how he got hit since he believes that his timing wasn't off, wondering if Karasawa is faster than he is. As Itagaki steps back, Saeki thinks it is strange, as he thought that Karasawa would be slower than Itagaki even if he went up a gear, wondering how Itagaki keeps missing his counters. Sanada points out that he did switch gears, however, he shifted down. He explains to Saeki and Ippo that by moving slow on purpose, he's able to make the difference in their speeds seem much greater, and naturally, Itagaki will adapt to the rhythm of this slower timing. Sanada further explains that Karasawa has Itagaki focus on his wide left, knowing that Itagaki would dive in to counter it, so when Itagaki prepares to deal with the punch that is purposely slowed down, Karasawa starts throwing the punch at his normal speed and hitting Itagaki. As Ippo was about to leave to tell Itagaki's corner about the information, Sanada guilt Ippo into not doing so. Karasawa can tell Itagaki is worrying now, and thinks that while he may have incredible potential, he is still too green.
