When Donnie's non-title match against OPBF featherweight champion Ichirō Miyata arrived, Donnie went to the Kōrakuen Hall. When the match began, Donnie was aggressively attacked, unable to do anything against Miyata's quick footwork and the barrage of punches. Donnie was pushed to a corner and was continuously attacked, wondering why Miyata is fighting like an in-fighter. Donnie attempted to hit Miyata at the corner, but Miyata escaped while throwing a counter, which hit Donnie's guard. As Miyata went to the other end of the ring, Donnie chased after him and made failed attempts on landing a hit on Miyata. While trying to land a punch on Miyata, Donnie was hit by a Cross Counter, making his knees buckle. Not wanting to go back to his family in the Philippines empty handed, Donnie charged back at Miyata with more punches, which were avoided and blocked by Miyata until Donnie was hit by a Pin-point Counter on his jaw. Donnie watched Miyata turn his back and walk away from him as Donnie goes unconscious and falls seconds later. The referee ended the match immediately, resulting in Donnie's loss.
