To the Promised Place... is Round 24 of the Hajime no Ippo anime, which is the adaptation of Jōji Morikawa's Hajime no Ippo series.

Summary[]

Miyata is down and seems to be unable to continue, but begins to remember Ippo's determination, and in order to ace him in the finals, stands up. Mashiba uses an illegal move, which gives him the upper hand, and Miyata, despite getting up, is unable to move. Mashiba takes the opportunity and attacks Miyata who despite his condition, dodges all the hits with only his upper body. Mashiba attacks ready to finish it, but Miyata receives him with a counter. When Mashiba psychs himself up and goes for the attack again, the referee stops him and ends the round. Miyata's father, noticing that his son has a serious injury, advises him to forfeit the match, and gets up to let the referee know. Miyata, motivated by the thought of Ippo waiting for him, refuses and chooses to fight. As the third round begins, Miyata once again uses nothing but his upper body to dodge, but when he attempts to back away from Mashiba, he lets out an expression of pain, letting his opponent know about his injury. Mashiba, now knowing about Miyata's injury, decides to attack with heavy focus on his body, which unlike the head, can not move. As the audience wonder why Miyata is not fighting back, they begin to realise that he is injured, and beg the referee to stop the fight. Mashiba attempts a knockout, but Miyata, despite the sharp pain, counters the attack, but is unable to follow up and finish him. Mashiba once more goes for the attack but soon backs up when he notices Miyata's determination. Miyata with his swings, manages to put a surprised Mashiba against the ropes and awaits the opportunity to utilise his trademark counter. As Mashiba throws a powerful punch, Miyata attempts his counter with perfect timing. However, and to the shock of everyone, Miyata is too "worn out" and Mashiba successfully connects, sending Miyata down and winning the fight, thus earning a fight against Ippo in the finals. Miyata is removed with a stretcher as he fails to regain consciousness in the ring. Fujii and Takamura discuss the future of East Japan Rookie King Tournament, as they wait for Ippo who is on his way to Miyata's room. Miyata's father, informs the reporters of Miyata's condition and tells them to go away. When he notices Ippo, he tells him Miyata asks for his forgiveness. Ippo, remembering moments with Miyata, and angered by Mashiba's actions, punches a vending machine and walks away.
