Summary[]

At the Kamogawa gym, Aoki notices Ippo training and wonders if he should be resting at home still. Ippo claims that he didn't get hit much, so he came for some exercise. Aoki notes how exciting it is that everyone from the gym won yesterday, however, Takamura appears and claims that it isn't all that good. He explains that Kimura is in a state between life and death with a high fever and that the doctors have given up on him. As Aoki leaves the gym in a panic and Ippo begins chasing him, Takamura claims he was just kidding about everything but him having a fever, so they decide to visit Kimura at his house. Upon arrival, Kimura's mother tells Ippo and Takamura that Kimura's fever is gone and Aoki already went inside his room. When Ippo and Takamura arrives to Kimura's room, Aoki is depressed about Takamura's joke. Ippo and Takamura finds out from Aoki that Kimura is in shock because he feels heartbroken due to Reiko already being taken. Ippo notices Kimura has a pet dragon fish and feeds it. As Kimura expresses how he believes boxers don't need a woman, Takamura helps himself to pictures of Reiko Kimura had under his bed. Kimura's dragon fish that Ippo fed starts passing out due to the food Ippo gave was Kimura's fever medication. Kimura yells his fish's name in horror and everyone finds out he named it "Reiko". Kimura starts hitting Aoki as he asks why everyone came to his house. Ippo gets Kimura to stop hitting Aoki and notices a picture of Aoki in the photo album Takamura is looking at. Ippo is surprised that the person next to Aoki in the picture is Kimura, who looks unrecognisable to him. Seeing that Aoki and Kimura's friendship goes back many years, he asks them what they were like back then. Aoki claims Kimura was a lousy biker, and Kimura says that Aoki was always playing with himself. Ippo wonders how they became boxers. Aoki and Kimura begins telling him their five year old story. Five years ago, on Kimura's motorcycle, he and Aoki (who had a habit of frequently touching his genitals) would go around the city getting into fights with students from other schools and building a reputation for themselves. While Kimura thinks that the idea of being expelled from school would be a really bad thing, Aoki believes it would give them the opportunity to start a gang. Their usual life consists mainly of a war between high schools where students of each school ambush and beat each other up. After having an argument with Aoki and while riding on his motorcycle, Kimura encounters his old friend Kamiya but barely recognises him. Kamiya, who is now "settled down" and takes Karate lessons at a dojo, tells Kimura that he changed his appearance in order to be accepted, as he was not able to defeat the members of the dojo as he was back then. Before leaving, Kamiya tells Kimura that the students they beat up recently, are looking for revenge and have someone strong to help them. Aoki and his friends enter the Game Land next to their opponents high school. Aoki's friends insists that they should not go in as someone strong is helping them but Aoki states that no one can defeat him. As soon as he sees an enemy student, Aoki assaults him and sends him to the floor. The student delivers a headbutt, follows with a power-bomb and finishes it with a German suplex that leaves Aoki unconscious. Later that day, Kimura is ambushed at his parents's shop by a group of twelve students. He attempts to change the location in order to fight all of them away from the store but they start destroying the place without hesitation. Kimura tries to talk to them but when they hit his mother, he gets angry and begins fighting. After receiving the beatings, both Kimura and Aoki promise to get revenge. After so many police reports on their activities, the school counsellor advises Aoki]] and Kimura to separate in order to have a better academic life. They respond to this with violence and are expelled. They later catch Aoki's girlfriend cheating and Kimura stops her from running away. Aoki tries to hit her but is unable to do it and explains to Kimura that he actually loved her. Seeking revenge from their attackers, Aoki and Kimura challenge the students from the opposing school to a street fight. Despite been able to take out many of them, the outnumbered pair is defeated and receives a beating even after they can not fight back. Takamura, who along with Miyata was on his way to the Kamogawa gym, recognises Aoki. The students, who are afraid of Takamura and believe him to be friends of Aoki and Kimura, leave when he tells them to. Instead of being thankful, Kimura states that he will not have his fights been taken away as well and decides to fight Takamura. Aoki stops him and tells him that he will be the one to fight Takamura. Takamura responds by revealing he made a promise to not use his fists in a street fight but will give it all he has now. When Kimura notices Takamura's muscles, he realises he must be a fighter and Miyata responds that he is a boxer. The street fight between Aoki and Takamura begins, with the latter distracting the former with a jab and then landing a straight that instantly knocks him out. He then asks Kimura if he wants some too. Knowing now that Takamura is a boxer, Kimura attempts a low kick but falls victim to a vicious uppercut that knocks him out. Aoki and Kimura become determined to challenge Takamura no matter what it takes.

Trivia[]
