Summary[]
As Ippo and Miyata rest for round two, they realise that they're at the same level. The second round begins, Ippo rushes Miyata with jabs, Miyata clinches until the second round is over. As they go back to their corners, Ippo notices that Miyata is clinching because he is trying to recover from exhaustion. Miyata has recovered as round three begins, Ippo dashes, stops, as notices Miyata's look has changed. Ippo goes forward throwing punches while Miyata dodges, Miyata then attacks and lands punches on Ippo, the latter tries to hit Miyata, but fails to land any hits. As Ippo is overwhelmed with body blows from Miyata, his feet stop working, Miyata lands a jab combination and downs Ippo. Ippo gets up at the count of eight, the third round is over as they both go to their corners. As the fourth and final round starts, Ippo tells Kamogawa he has one last thing to do. The final round begins, they both dash towards each other, Miyata hits Ippo to the ropes, Miyata traps Ippo, who then uses the Turtle Strategy. Miyata gives Ippo a barrage of punches until Ippo's guard breaks. As Miyata gets ready to throw the last punch, Ippo sees a chance to use an uppercut. Ippo seemingly misses the uppercut, Miyata tries to counter it, but falls mid-punch. As the count begins, Miyata struggles to get up as his legs fail him, Takamura counts to ten and announces Ippo is the winner. Kamogawa starts telling Ippo that his technique needs work and to come by tomorrow as Ippo passes out. That night, a photograph from Fujii comes in that shows Ippo hit the tip of Miyata's jaw. As Kamogawa thinks about the punch Ippo threw, Miyata's father comes in and talks to him. As Ippo is overjoyed with his win, he has trouble sleeping.
