Choi fighting Miyata.

When Choi's OPBF featherweight title match against the champion, Ichirō Miyata arrived, he went to the Kōrakuen Hall. At the ring before the match started, Choi was instructed by his coach to step in with a tight guard and to go after Miyata's body to stop his movements. When the match began, Choi immediately attacked Miyata and entered close range, leaving Miyata to have to block a barrage of body blows. Choi mixed in elbows and headbutts with his punches which troubled Miyata. After a headbutt connected, however, Choi was hit by a counter after he tried to follow-up on the headbutt, sending him down. When Choi got up, his attacks were unable to connect while Miyata's were, as Miyata used his quick footwork to dodge Choi's attacks. After the first round ended, Choi continued to get dominated by Miyata in the match in the second and third round. Choi went down again in the third round as it ended, however, he was able to get back up to walk to his corner.

When the fourth round began, Choi landed the first punch of the round due to Miyata being distracted by the presence of someone in the audience. As Miyata tried to get away, Choi stepped on Miyata's foot, preventing him from getting away. Choi continued to hit the distracted Miyata with headbutts and elbows mixed with his punches until the referee got in between the two due to Miyata bleeding from a cut on his face. Miyata was checked by the doctor, who decided that the match should be stopped, however, Miyata forced the match to continue after he showed his determination to continue the match. After landing some punches on Miyata, Choi and Miyata entered a close range exchange, which Choi had the advantage of. After he got hit by a Cross Counter, Choi began to lose his advantage until Miyata was the only one hitting. Choi went down from the combination of punches and the referee had to step in, as Choi was still getting hit while he was on his knees. The referee ended the match immediately, resulting in Choi's loss.
