Winner Takes All Arc[]

The coach with Gedo talking to Kamogawa about the prize money for Gedo's match against Ippo.
When his boxer, Malcolm Gedo had a match against Ippo Makunouchi coming up, they travelled to Japan early and went to the Kamogawa gym to speak with Genji Kamogawa and Haruhiko Yagi to have a discussion about the match. As Gedo wanted to talk mostly about the prize money, Kamogawa got angry and told him it would be one million yen, pleasing the coach. Gedo pushed Kamogawa into raising it to two million yen in a winner takes all in one month at the Kōrakuen Hall. Gedo and the coach left gleefully, with the coach dropping their invoice for their travel expenses to have them pay for it. When the weigh-in arrived, he went to the Kōrakuen Hall with Gedo to attend his weigh-in.

The next day, he went to the Kōrakuen Hall to be Gedo's chief second in his match against Ippo. After the first round, when Gedo admitted that Ippo's punches are dangerous and wanted to avoid direct hits, he asked Gedo if he will be able to dodge his punches, to which Gedo answered that he is the magician. As Gedo got ready for the second round, he told his seconds that they would get 20% of the prize money, which the coach was fine with. After the third round, when Gedo noted how strong Ippo is, the coach asked Gedo if he thinks that he doesn't think he can win by knockout, however, Gedo claimed he is able to. After the seventh round, the coach warned Gedo to be cautious of Ippo's big punches while going in to finish the match, as his business is almost done with a knockout victory in sight. The match ended as Gedo lost against Ippo by knockout in the eighth round.
Red Lightning Arc[]
After the coach went to the doctor's room in the venue with Gedo after he lost against Ippo, Kamogawa gave them the fight money they would have received if it was not a winner takes all, leaving the coach in a good mood. Walking away from the venue, the coach was excited when Gedo wanted to come up with a new magic trick.
Later, he was Gedo's chief second for his Filipino featherweight title defence match against Antonio Guevara. The match ended in Gedo's defeat by decision, causing him to lose his national title.
