Story |

The story of Hajime no Ippo follows Ippo Makunouchi as he begins his career in boxing to try and answer one simple question: "What does it mean to be strong?". Since that moment onwards, he has formed a rivalry with other boxers, such as Ichirō Miyata, Takeshi Sendō, Ryō Mashiba, a brotherly bond with his peers Mamoru Takamura, Masaru Aoki, Tatsuya Kimura, and a deep trust for his coach, Genji Kamogawa, whom he aims to become a renowned champion to honour the coach's teachings. |

As Mashiba and Rosario both launch a punch at each other, Rosario's left hook counter lands on Mashiba's face, sending him down. As Rosario goes to a neutral corner while the referee counts, he is thrilled with what his two fists have done, knowing that they wouldn't betray him. He acknowledges Mashiba as his strongest opponent, but believes it is over now. Kumi and Ippo are worried about Mashiba as the audience calls out for Mashiba. Mashiba wonders what happened and why he is looking at the ceiling. Being grateful of his seconds that stopped his bleeding, and everyone who supports him, Mashiba realises that he is always one word short of telling them "thank you". As he knows that he can't say it now, he plans to show them by raising the belt in front of them. Mashiba stands up at the count of eight and puts up a fighting pose. Itagaki thinks the referee should stop the match since his damage is too deep. Takamura wonders who Itagaki is talking about. Kamogawa almost loses, until Nekota gave him as much spirit he had in his fist when he came with Yuki. Kamogawa goes on the attack, but gets hit with Anderson's left numerous times and Dankichi is ready to throw in the towel to save him, and not to watch him die like that. Nekota says that if he throw in the towel, he is the one who will get killed, by Kamogawa. As the match goes, Miguel says in his mind, that Kamogawa has iron determination, just like his fists which as it appears they leave a mark on Anderson's both arms. Read more... |
