Hide (英, Hide) is a non-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo.

He is Take Keīchi's and Take Keiko's son.

Background[]

When Hide became ill, his father, Keīchi Take, had to cancel his JBC title match with Eiji Date and temporarily retired from boxing to be with him. When Hide recovered, he didn't want to leave the house for a year due to getting bullied because the bullies believed Take was a coward for not fighting Date. Hide was upset as he asked Take if he ran away from the champion.[1] In order to inspire his son, Take decided to return to boxing in order to show he was not a coward, and to show his son his back that he could be proud of.

History[]

Part II[]

Father's Back Arc[]

When Hide stopped by Take's boxing gym to tell his father that dinner was ready, Take's coach requested for Hide to tell Take that he wanted him to get Ippo Makunouchi's JBC featherweight belt. However, Hide declined since he knew Ippo was strong since he saw Ippo's match tapes every night. Hide mentioned that he was looking forward to go to Tokyo, since his father promised to take him to Disneyland. As Hide left with Take, they argued about how Take shouldn't overdo it because they were supposed to go to Disneyland afterwards.

Later, Hide arrived to the Kōrakuen Hall with his mother, Take Keiko, to watch Take fight in the JBC featherweight title match against Ippo. Before heading inside, Hide asked Take and Keiko if they could take him to the nearby theme park, however, Take mentioned that he has an important job to do first. As Hide began to look worried, Take put him on his shoulders and insisted that he will become champion tonight. When Take's match against Ippo began, Hide watched and cheered for Take. The match ended in Take's loss in the sixth round by knockout, however, Hide was impressed with his father, as he continued to fight after taking Ippo's strong punches without running away. Outside the venue, Take tried to cheer up his family since they were sad by telling Hide that they can go to the amusement park the next day. However, Hide revealed that he wants to become a boxer and for his father to be his coach after seeing how great he fought and declined to go to the amusement park. Take happily hugged Hide in response.
