At the start of the match, Kimura appeared effect by the pressure of his first match. With Kimura distracted, Hotta was able to knock down Kimura in just five seconds. Kimura was able to get up, but was still confused by the situation. Kimura ran away from Hotta until the bell rang. Hotta missed a lot of chances to end the fight, since it was also his debut match.

In the second round, Kimura was still not thinking clearly where Hotta was able to take advantage of until someone in his corner yelled at Kimura, which woke him up. Kimura started to fight better and moving like an out-boxer. As Hotta was attacking, Kimura was able to dodge as he was getting used to the rhythm. Hotta's speed and stamina was declining as the match went on, missing his punches which allowed Kimura to hit him with jabs. As Hotta began to throw a punch at Kimura, Hotta was hit by a counter that knocked him down. The referee stepped in to stop the match, resulting in Hotta's debut match ending in a loss.
