Mrs. Yamada (直道の母, Naomichi no Haha) is a non-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo.
She is the mother of Yamada Naomichi.

Part I[]
White Fang Arc[]
Yamada telling Naomichi about the moving day.
Due to her husband's work, Yamada and her son, Yamada Naomichi had to move often. When it was time to move again, she told Naomichi and apologised as she knew Naomichi was happy at the Kamogawa Boxing Gym.
Sometime later, Yamada moved to Aomori with her son, Naomichi.

Prior to Naomichi's title match against Makunouchi Ippo, Yamada was told by Naomichi that he planned to retire after, since he finally reached his goal in fighting Ippo. Yamada attended Naomichi's title match against Ippo, where she cheered for her son. She realised that when Naomichi met Ippo, it was like a switched was flipped inside him, and he changed. She used to be worried about him, but as a parent, she was so proud of him. She knows that her incredible son was fighting an incredible person, and she wanted him to do his very best until the end. The match then ended in Naomichi losing, however, Naomichi was inspired by Ippo's words after the match and continued boxing, having to apologise to his mother..

She is a middle age women with long brown hair. She has a weary and tired look.
