Naoya Ogawa (小川 直也, Ogawa Naoya) is a non-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo. He fought against Makunouchi Ippo during his C Class License test and lost.
Part I[]
Early Days Arc[]

Ogawa vs. Ippo.
Ogawa partook in his pro test for his C Class License. His opponent was Makunouchi Ippo. When the spar began, Ogawa went toward Ippo and attacked, however all hits missed. After getting hit in the face with a right, Ogawa went down and lost his pro test.
Appearance[]
Ogawa has black, spiky hair and dark coloured eyes. He has a well-built muscular toned body. During his pro test, his attire was a light blue t-shirt, navy pants and blue and white boxer shoes.
Personality[]
Ogawa is a confident, arrogant, prideful person. He shows his arrogance when he assumes Ippo is an easy opponent when he sees Ippo mumbling to himself.
Boxing Abilities[]
Ogawa is shown to be inexperienced and a slow puncher, being slower than Miyata Ichirō and Ippo. Ogawa has an offensive mindset and shows very little defensive technique.
Etymology[]
- The name Naoya means "straight, direct" (直) (nao) and "to be, also" (也) (ya).
- Naoya's surname Ogawa means "stream, brook, bourn/bourne" (小川).

- There is a Japanese Olympic and world champion judoka named Naoya Ogawa.
